John, Maria, Tom, and Lisa were coworkers at a marketing firm. One day, they stumbled upon a donut shop that had just opened up in their neighborhood. Excited by the prospect of fresh donuts, they decided to take a trip there during their lunch break.
As they walked into the shop, the smell of freshly baked donuts wafted through the air. John’s eyes widened with excitement, while Maria’s mouth watered. Tom was skeptical – he had heard that the shop was overrated – but Lisa was already reaching for her wallet.
They approached the counter, and the friendly baker asked them what they would like to order.
“I’ll take a classic glazed donut,” said John.
“Make mine a chocolate frosted,” said Maria.
“I’ll try the maple bacon,” said Lisa.
Tom pondered for a moment before finally deciding. “I guess I’ll go for the cinnamon sugar,” he said.
As they sat down at a table, they each took a bite of their donuts. John’s eyes closed in bliss as he savored the sweetness of the glaze. Maria licked the chocolate frosting off her fingers. Lisa moaned in pleasure at the salty-sweet combination of the maple bacon donut. Tom, however, was unimpressed.
“I don’t get what the fuss is about,” he said. “This donut is just… okay.”
The others looked at him in shock. “What are you talking about? These donuts are amazing!” exclaimed John.
“I think Tom’s just mad that he picked the boring cinnamon sugar donut,” joked Maria.
“Hey, don’t hate on the classics,” retorted Tom. “Besides, it’s better than the maple bacon monstrosity Lisa’s eating.”
“Excuse me, but the maple bacon donut is a work of art,” said Lisa, mock-offended. “You just don’t have a refined palate like I do.”
They continued to banter and debate about the merits of different donuts, each one passionately defending their choice. The baker, amused by their enthusiasm, even offered them a free dozen to take back to the office.
As they left the shop, bellies full of delicious donuts, they all agreed that this had been the best lunch break ever. From that day on, they made it a tradition to visit the donut shop every Friday, each one trying a new flavor and adding to their ongoing debate about the best donut of them all.
